Huai Yuen is an experienced and versatile HR professional with more than 28 years experience gained through both practice and in-house capacities with the government and large leading MNCs. Having worked in government, search consulting and the corporate arena, he has demonstrated the ability to contribute on senior leadership teams, drive the HR agenda across the Asia Pacific region and participate in business strategy building.

Huai Yuen’s career began with the Singapore Ministry of Defence as a Psychologist. For a period of 6 years he served as an internal consultant collaborating with and advising senior commanders on issues related to talent assessment and selection and various manpower related challenges.

His first venture into the commercial sector saw him with two International Search Firms for 12 years where he was very successful in advising and assisting both large local organisations and MNCs to successfully place senior and critical roles across a variety of disciplines and across Asia. He also assisted his clients to assess internal staff for potential and for promotional purposes. Showing his versatility, he also successfully assisted several clients to off-board affected individuals on many occasions.

He then went in-house and for the next 12 years saw him with two leading MNCs. Huai Yuen headed the Regional Talent Acquisition function for Linde Gas (previously BOC gases) ensuring both the quality of senior hires and of staffing policies, standards, procedures and country talent acquisition initiatives across all of Asia. He next joined the Banking IT sector with FISERV. This exposure saw him (as Head of HR, Asia Pacific) drive the HR Agenda for this International Banking Software Organisation. He partnered the MD and all Senior Functional Directors to drive and ensured HR best practice, including raising the level of Engagement for the organisation in Asia Pacific. He sat on all leadership meetings contributing to the Asia Pacific business strategy.

Huai Yuen holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Western Ontario, Canada as well as a Applied Masters in Psychology (Clinical & Organisational specialisation) from Murdoch University, Australia. He is passionate about talent acquisition & talent assessment and other Human Resources areas having managed the HR function almost all his working life.
